The fundamental caring skill of blood pressure recording nursing essay

Care: Caregivers will teach you or someone else how to take your blood pressure. You will be told how often your blood pressure should be taken. It is important to write down the blood pressure reading each time it is taken. You or the friend or relative will be told when to call caregivers about your blood pressure reading.

The frequency of recording the blood pressure depends on the condition of the patient. Patients in a critical care environment will require their blood pressure to be recorded continuously. - The blood pressure should be recorded to the nearest 2mmHg - to maintain accuracy.

The electronic method that was usually used was faulty and an accurate reading could not be obtained. As a student nurse I had been taught the skill in university and practiced on fellow students but not had much opportunity to perform the skill on placement.
